Porter House Demolition
After months of issues with the Town of Bourne about permitting, Russ and Wendy were finally allowed to proceed with the demolition phase of the property.  We visited during the process, which was done primarily by Joe Agrillo's son.  While it naturally stirred up a lot of memories and various emotions, there still is something comforting about the finality of the process - the house is gone.
The excavator is used to swipe at the walls and let the structure collapse onto the foundation.
Piles of debris were then crushed with the excavator and loaded into dumpsters to haul away.  It took four dumpsters and a few dumptruck loads to remove the house material.
The fireplace was left in place, to be removed later and re-cycled by Russ.  It was impractical to try to save it intact, but he plans to build an outside fireplace with the original stones.
The deck was the last to be removed.  Next week they will remove the slab and then begin placing the revetment (rocks in place of the seawall) and have the site ready for the spring, when Russ intends to proceed with construction of a single story, single bedroom on stilts.

I have to admit, it was kind of fascinating to watch the process . . .
